Fees & Financial Support
The Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Group covers the costs of university tuition and fees, and provides an annual stipend of $26,000, for all domestic students (U.S. Residents) while they maintain adequate progress toward completion of the Ph.D. The campus also maintains Training Grants in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biotechnology, and Reproductive Biology. Graduate students conducting their research in the laboratories of investigators who are Trainers on these grants are eligible for training grant support. M.S. students are not offered financial support; however, they may request financial aid.
Each year the University of California, Davis, offers fellowships and graduate scholarships for entering and continuing graduate students. All students are encouraged to apply for such fellowships. Applications for fellowships and graduate scholarships are considered once a year and must be received by the graduate group by December 15. Awards are made by March 15, and each candidate is notified by mail. Awards are made for the subsequent academic year, beginning in the fall quarter.
Federal Student Aid
All graduate applicants who are US citizens, permanent residents or immigrants must file a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) as early as possible, but no later than March 1. This form, submitted directly to the Federal Student Aid Program Office, Iowa City, Iowa, is used to determine financial need only, a component of the eligibility criteria for many fellowships, and for all forms of financial aid. The FAFSA can be obtained at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
